Frequently Asked Questions

  • What if I cannot make it to my appointment?

Please call our office at 210-615-6505 to reschedule or cancel your appointment. Appointments cancelled within 24 hours are subject to a cancellation fee. Please do your best to keep any appointments and/or contact our office as soon as you are aware of any conflicts.

  • Can I take my children to my appointment?

At Lone Star OB/GYN Associates, we understand the need to take your children with you to your appointments and we enjoy seeing them! While we look forward to seeing them again in the future... at this time only the patient and one visitor is allowed in the office. We appreciate your patience as we try to keep our patients, providers and staff as safe and healthy as possible.

  • What age should I start mammogram screenings?

Breast self-awareness (how they look and feel) should begin at puberty and any changes in size or shape should be reported to your provider. Your annual mammogram screenings should start at age 40 or sooner if your provider recommends it at an earlier age.

  • What should I do before I get pregnant to ensure a healthy pregnancy for me and my baby?

Schedule a pre-pregnancy appointment where you can discuss things like family medical history, genetic conditions and risks of birth defects. In addition to your appointment, you will want to start eating a healthy diet and begin taking a prenatal vitamin with folic acid.

  • Can I exercise while I'm pregnant?

Yes, light exercise is considered safe while you are pregnant. Listen to your body and don't overdo it! Do not over overexert yourself or workout to the point of exhaustion. Wear lightweight, loose-fit clothing and drink plenty of fluids.

  • What should I know about postpartum depression?

As many as 80% of new mothers experience the "baby blues" right after delivery. These symptoms can go away within a few days to a few weeks. If the feelings linger or become severe, it's important to get treatment for post partum depression. Please call our office for immediate treatment of depression.
